“The tiltrotator is invaluable”

What Stuart Carlyon really likes doing with his machines is making them as profitable as possible, especially with the aid of hydraulic tools.

So it was just a matter of time before he tested an engcon tiltrotator. And he’s really pleased.

“I’ve discovered that my excavator is never in the wrong position, thanks to the tiltrotator. It makes me more flexible at work and I avoid moving my machine all the time.”

Stuart Carlyon runs the family company G. A. Carlyon & Son in Cornwall and because he’s keen to keep up with developments he follows a number of blogs aimed at contractors and he takes an active part in various machine forums. This led him to look on the internet for more information about engcon tiltrotators.

Just over two years ago, his curiosity turned into certainty when he bought a new engcon EC05B for his company’s Hitachi Zaxis 52U mini excavator. And now he’s completely sold on “The Swedish Way” of working with excavators and he lavishes praise on engcon.

“The tiltrotator means I can handle more demanding and challenging assignments. For me, there’s no other way now. I’ve discovered that my excavator is never in the wrong position, thanks to the tiltrotator. It makes me more flexible at work and I avoid moving my machine all the time.”

“Even little things like loading small trucks or dumpers have become so much easier as I can move the bucket exactly where I want it.”

Confined sites

Cornwall in England is renowned for its dense network of narrow roads, which often means many places are confined sites. This is yet another reason why Stuart – and his customers – appreciate the tiltrotator’s advantages.

“The tiltrotator is priceless in confined spaces. For example, if I get a pile of gravel dumped next to me I can rotate the bucket and shape the pile so that it doesn’t spread out.”

Stuart often uses the bucket back to front. Previously, this took a great deal of time: first remove the bucket, turn it around and then connect the bucket again.

“But with the tiltrotator this is done in a moment without my losing valuable time.”

Stuart also does a lot of work on or close to private property, which often means he has to drive his excavator onto the customer’s lawn. Here too, there are contrasting before-and-after scenarios.

“With the tiltrotator, I can do a great deal of work with the machine from a single position. This means less damage to the lawn and a minimum of restoration work afterwards.”

According to Stuart, his engcon tiltrotator has opened his eyes to an entirely new way of working with excavators. He sums things up like this:

“I save time and I save money. What’s more, my customers love the way I work. It just doesn’t get better than that!”

“The tiltrotator means I can handle more demanding and challenging assignments. For me, there’s no other way now.”
