Tiltrotator makes for a flexible machine

For the last six months Volkmer Heubach has been operating a Liebherr R926 excavator with an engcon tiltrotator, and he is very impressed.

“The benefits are obvious. When matched with the engcon EC20 tiltrotator the bucket versatility becomes immense. In combination with the quick hitch I can also change tools, quickly and without fuss”, says Volkmer.

We visit Volkmer Heubach at the construction site at Kreuz Biebelried A3, Autobahn junction, which during recent years has been widened to six lanes. His Liebherr R926 excavator with its 18 m reach and engcon tiltrotator can be seen from quite a distance away. He’s standing on the 30 m high noise-reduction embankment which he has helped make, transporting incalculable numbers of cubic metres of earth.

The Leonhard Weiss company had been founded in the last century and is now 110 years old. It has 3 000 employees in Germany and its subsidiary companies in Norway, Poland, Sweden and the Czech Republic. Volkmer Heubach has worked for Leonhard Weiss two years, but has more than 20 years’ experience as an excavator operator.

“The advantage of this particular combination of machine and tiltrotator is the bucket’s immense versatility. In combination with the quick hitch I can also change tools, quickly and without fuss”, says Volkmer. Heubach.

High degree of precision

The excavator with its long reach and engcon tiltrotator is in daily use in the grading work up on the noise-reduction embankment, building up the profile with a high degree of precision and in the shortest time possible. The advantages of using engcon solutions are immediately evident, as work carried out with the versatile tiltrotator when compared to more conventional equipment goes so much faster.

“The bucket’s great flexibility enables its uninhibited motion and it can be used for both deep excavation and other applications”, explains Volkmer.

Using his excavator Volkmer Huebach can work in three dimensions on the embankment without having to move position, and rarely needs to reposition the machine.

Thanks to these positive experiences from this particular work site using the two engcon EC20B tiltrotators that were procured towards the end of 2011, Leonhard Weiss is planning to make further investments in its excavation machine park in the near future.
